Axalto
Challenge: The Axalto Smart Cards software development team required daily technical writing and project management support to produce the programmer documentation that ships with their software applications.
BrightLeaf Group Solution: Located on the Axalto site, the BrightLeaf Group-Smart Card documentation team provided daily support to the Axalto software development team. The BrightLeaf Group team created programmer's guides, reference guides, and other documentation for a broad range of Smart Card products. The core team consisted of two senior technical writers, each with more than 15 years of experience in software technical writing and project management. The core team was expanded during peak workloads, with the addition of a technical illustrator and technical editor as needed to meet project demands.
Dell
Challenge: A leading computer manufacturer serving a worldwide market, Dell routinely faced the challenge of producing interactive, web-based training modules to ensure that their inside sales teams were knowledgeable about the latest Dell products and could accurately identify the right product solutions for each customer. Because of their rapid product development environment, Dell needed to develop an ongoing series of high-quality courses routinely, quickly, and efficiently.
BrightLeaf Group Solution: Working within Dell's preferred course authoring environment, BrightLeaf Group collaborated with Dell engineering managers, product marketing managers, and subject matter experts to create online training that effectively blended text, interactions, animations, and graphics. BrightLeaf Group consistently delivered high-quality courses on time and under budget without the problems often associated with high-speed, continuous development. The courses were distributed to Dell personnel in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
Emerson
Challenge: Emerson develops computer-based automation systems for the process industries (for example, systems for the monitoring and control of continuous processes in the oil and gas, pharmaceutical, and specialty chemical industries). One of their product development teams requires daily technical writing support to produce a variety of documentation deliverables that ship with their products.
BrightLeaf Group Solution: BrightLeaf Group provides Emerson with ongoing technical documentation support. Deliverables include system administrator guides, user guides for field engineers, online help systems, and other technical materials. Documents are published for hardcopy publication, CD-ROM distribution, and web distribution.
Schlumberger Oilfield Services
Challenge: Schlumberger Oilfield Services is a provider of services, solutions, and technology to the global petroleum industry. They faced the challenge of producing a CD-ROM-based course that would train oilfield engineers on using the latest version of their premier oilfield data acquisition software.
BrightLeaf Group Solution: Working closely with the Schlumberger software development team, the BrightLeaf Group E-learning team developed a three-part, 90-minute interactive course that was well received by management, technical staff, and field users. The CD-ROM-based course replaced the typical software release notes, increasing user acceptance and reducing the learning curve.
Technology Standards Organization
Challenge: An international technology standards organization develops standards for computer system management. The organization's members collaborate to author specifications and other documents. With limited time, these authors can focus only on the technical content rather than the editorial consistency and format of the documents, but the long and complex documents that they produce need to look professional and be consistent across the organization.
BrightLeaf Group Solution: BrightLeaf Group provides ongoing technical documentation support by providing writing, editing, technical illustration, and desktop publishing services monthly, on an as-needed basis. Since 2004, BrightLeaf Group has assisted this organization in producing specifications, white papers, process documents, data sheets, wikis, and other documentation. The BrightLeaf Group team developed and applied ISO-compliant templates to ensure that the specifications would be in the proper format to be accepted by international standards organizations.
